Bowl of Green

11 x 14"
oil on canvas
Sold

I've been using this cardboard box under most of my setups lately - sometimes it makes it into the painting, sometimes not. Last night I decided to revel in its boxiness to the extreme by including the barcode sticker. I'm sticking by my decision (no pun intended) - that's what art is, after all - making decisions and sticking by them. At least until that particular painting is finished. You can always make new decisions with the next one.

Yes, what a great composition. The box 'graphics' give it some architecture. I really like the merger of the fabric into the bowl shape; almost like a torn paper collage. Brava....

Wonderful values and shadows in this! I like the inclusion of the box...a nice touch next to the dressiness of the fabric.
