Still Life with Iris

11 x 14"
oil on canvas
Sold

Here is the painting I worked on this past weekend at my friend's studio. I had a great time painting and chatting with her, and I love the way this came out. More and more lately, I'm finding that when I dive in and try to paint things that I find intimidating (like this handmade glazed pottery bowl), the perceived difficulty takes my concentration to a new level. Plus, it's always nice when things turn out better than you expected them to. This painting reminds me of earlier attempts to paint handmade pottery, as well as Irises.

You keep your values which I find to be my most challenging task when painting. Nice one.
