Still shopping for Christmas presents? Unfortunately, I'm unable to ship until after the holiday (spending time with family and all that), but Zazzle can get it there by Christmas if you order by 3 pm on the 19th. I hear there are some nice 2011 calendars for sale over there....and you can personalize them with all your special dates.

Pomegranate Halves - still life oil painting food fruit kitchen

6 x 8"
oil on canvas
$75

The inside of a pomegranate is a pretty wild thing to paint. On the whole, I like painting the outside better. Who can resist placing that shiny highlight as the last step? I have to admit, though, these juicy little seed-berries were quite the cadmium-red bacchanalia.

Vigil - oil on canvas still life with votive candles, purple glass, and brass

Oh well, what to say about this one? I had a couple glasses of Oregon wine in my studio after putting the baby to bed, and this is what I woke up to the next morning. I love it! Go figure.

Some of you may be wondering about the lengthening and redundant titles of my blog posts - in fact, I'm surprised my editorial staff (hi, Mom and Dad) haven't already sent me a memo. According to Dailypainters.com web guru Micah Condon, having lots of keywords in your post title increases the likelihood that your blog will turn up in google searches. Let's hope it's working, because it sure feels silly!

I thought I'd take a stab at "restful," since my last few offerings have been kind of color intensive!

"After Company" oil painting Impressionist interior still life - $1 starting bid on ebay

 6 x 8"
oil on canvas
Sold

This painting is titled "After Company" because it shows our guest bed stripped of sheets after my sister's Thanksgiving week visit. It's kind of a melancholy image, but if I look at it another way, it could be the guest room before company comes, just waiting for clean sheets to be put on...
The painting-within-a-painting is "Studio View." It's just hanging out on the wall waiting for its frame to come in the mail.

"Oranges in a Pitcher, Day" - oil on canvas 8x8 - $100 on ebay

8 x 8"
oil on canvas

Hoping not to sound repetitive, but it's First Friday art walk time once again! (The monthly nature of First Friday kind of engenders repetitiveness, so I won't be too hard on myself.) Imagine has lots of gorgeous work on view, and a bunch of my Christmas cards, too! Maybe I'll see you tomorrow...

"White Pitcher, Lit Candle" - oil on canvas 6x6 - $75 on ebay

6 x 6"

I am so into interiors right now. I've always considered them challenging. When I was in college, I took a class entitled "Drawing and Painting the Figure in Interior." With a name like that, it's got to be a long class, and it was: 12 hours long! Well, we did have an hour for lunch.
